Notes from a Murfreesboro Newbie

I’ve never been the “new girl” in town because I’ve only ever lived in one house, so moving to another state is a bit of a change for me. I never went away to school, instead I commuted, so living on my own–along with my boyfriend– is a new thing for me, but I’m 25 years old and grown-up enough to be independent.

But, first, before I go further, let’s start from the beginning.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Tennessee ever since my brother went to UT Summer 2011. I drove down with him to help him settle into his apartment. From there, I visited him about three times and each time, I fell more and more in love with this state.

About 5 months ago, my boyfriend and I began looking for jobs elsewhere and I suggested Tennessee. Before we could pinpoint an exact place to move to, we needed to visit and check out the surroundings. I urged him to come with me to Nashville on vacation in January and he did. In fact, he loved it just as much as I.

Then, two months later, he randomly received a call from a company in Murfreesboro. After that, he had another over-the-phone and then an in-person interview where he landed the job. Deciding whether or not we could uproot everything and anything we ever knew was difficult. We talked it over several times and then mutually decided it would be the best decision for us.

We’ve been living here for about a week now and I must say I love it! One of the differences between where we lived versus here is stores were sprawled all over town while Murfreesboro has them all in a row. There’s everything you could ever want from this town. In the blink of an eye, you see Chili’s, Starbucks, Red Robin, Red Lobster and of course, Walmart.

Now that we’re a bit more settled, we’re ready to take on the town and learn everything we can about this gorgeous town.

Cheers to a new beginning.
