Stepping out of Your Comfort Zone

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been interested in acting and modeling, but I never had the confidence to go after what I wanted. In high school, I took 3 years of theater and even performed in a musical during my senior year. People were taken back as I auditioned for the role because I was so quiet and shy, but I wanted to try something new and step out of my comfort zone. I’ve been quiet from the time I was in school until now.

But, recently, I’ve been re-evaluating activities I enjoy and acting and modeling entered again, and this time, I decided to take advantage of it.

So, I contacted a local photographer, told him what I wanted to do and we set-up a photoshoot. It was my first photoshoot, so I felt a tad uncomfortable, but just went with it. Eventually, it started to feel natural and I enjoyed being photographed. While we walked around downtown Greenville looking for the perfect places to take some shots, I felt proud of myself. I’ve always let fear dictate my decisions, but not today.

I’m trying to gain more confidence in my abilities and stop overanalyzing. You should do the same! If there are people telling you not to do it, that should make you want something even more! Stop letting fear and other people tell you NO! You ARE your own person and are more than capable of deciding your own fate. So, stop being afraid and just do it!

As always, if you need someone to talk to in order to build your confidence, or you need an extra push, feel free to reach out: simplyrealhope@gmail.com
