Simply Real Formerly My Life As A 20-Something Year Old

Back in the day, I'd restrict myself from indulging in a slice of cake once in a while. I'd repeatedly say, YOUR NOT ALLOWED over + over my head. And, do you know what happened? I couldn't stop thinking about the damn piece of cake. Everytime I'd see it, it would make me want it more + more. Everytime I smelled sweets, I'd think of cake + couldn't let it go. You know eventually what happened? I ate not one, but THREE PIECES, y'all. 3️⃣ damn pieces all because I restricted myself. So, here's the lesson to be learned: 1 piece of cake WILL not make you gain weight, so please pretty please stop thinking that. I'm begging you. In a society filled with "diet" fades, there's no wonder we're all so freaking confused. People will tell you that diets work, but really FOLKS, the reason WHY they don't is because the more you restrict your body from what it's craving, the more likely you will end up like me......eating 3 pieces of cake. And, here's more proof. For all you Sex in the City fans: remember that episode where all Miranda wanted was chocolate, so she made herself a brownie + only ate a little bit, then went back, ate some more, threw it away. She then.... STUCK HER HAND IN THE TRASHCAN TO RETRIEVE THE CAKE because she deprived herself in the first place! If that doesn't resonate with y'all, not sure what will. ✌️
Homemade veggie burgers ✨ so, my husband has been watching this YouTubers that makes plant-based food and we decided to try a veggie burger. This burger is made with beets, lentils, black beans, chickpeas, oats and other spices. Does it taste like a burger? No, but the consistency is similar to a burger and it doesn't taste like garbage. Like I was talking about on my Instagram stories, since it's the holidays my husband and I have decided to go on a grocery budget. That means that we are opting for more plant-based meals instead of animal-based. We found that plant-based items. I'll let you know what we make next! And if you have any plant-based recipes you recommend us trying, then please let me know!
5 months old ✨ firstly, I cannot believe this chick is 5 months old today. I remember like it was just yesterday bringing her home for the hospital and being so afraid to hold her because she was so fragile. Now that we're 5 months into it, I've learned so much in so little time. This is what I've learned: ✖️ Cherish every 👏single 👏 moment whether it be good or bad ✖️ Don't stress about the small stuff. Trust me -- it will get done. ✖️ Not everything will work out as planned and that's okay. ✖️ Just go with it. ✖️ Gratitude. Gratitude Gratitude. ✖️ Try to stay positive even when you're feeling negative. ✖️ It will get easier - this I can assure you. So many people kept telling me that it will get easier, it will get easier and I didn't believe them until it actually did get easier. And here's the thing about motherhood: it's always changing. Your baby will be a certain way one day and then the next he or she can completely change directions. But bottom line is: there is no greater love than you have for your child. I can assure you that!
Do you ever look at old photos + wonder what you were thinking about? Dreaming about? Worrying about? This was taken in November 29, 2013. I remember it because this was the night before my husband asked me to be his girlfriend. On this night, my best friend + I were meeting to grab drinks at a bar. I remember talking to her about my husband + how much I liked him. Fast forward to 6 years later + here we are with a beautiful daughter, gorgeous house, + 2 adorable dogs. And, here's the thing about life: we just don't know where it's gonna take us. I didn't think my daughter would be born in South Carolina, but she was. I didn't think I'd be living so far from family, but I am. What is so great about life? It always challenges you + there's always a lesson to be learned. You need to learn from your mistakes so you don't do it a second time. You need to grow + mature. You cannot be afraid to be who you are. You have to live your life to the fullest. And, most of all, you need to be kind. ALWAYS be kind because you haven't a clue what the next person is going through. So, take a good hard look at old pictures + think about how much you've grown!
